Bogatyr is a Marbled Purple Stripe garlic that came from the Moscow area.
Bogatyr is new to us. We've heard it's very hot when raw, one of the hottet varieties; and then we've heard it's not hot at all. We'll have to wait and see how the taste develops in our climate and soil.
We've also heard that Bogatyr has excellent flavour, a pleasant aftertaste, and that the flavour holds up when cooked. I can't wait to try it.
The wrappers on these large bulbs have purple stripes with purple marbling. The large, pointy cloves are flat and arranged in a single circle around the scape. The skins are brown to purple coloured and not difficult to peel.
It's supposed to be a good storing garlic — up to 7 to 9 months.Order Bogatyr
