Asian Tempest is an Asiatic garlic that was brought to Canada from South Korea. It is classified as a Weekly Bolting Garlic, meaning some plants produce scapes while others don’t.
It is one of the first to appear in the spring and is ready to harvest well before many other varieties.
When raw the flavour can be hot, intense, and spicy. Cooking evolves the flavour so it becomes sweet and spicy.
Delicious when baked.
The bulbs have a slightly flattened teardrop shape with purple striping on the wrappers. There are usually 5 to 7 plump cloves in each. The cloves are beautiful deep-violet with golden streaks.
Stores for up to 5 months.
